My Goals for My Work:
I have a strong focus in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and work towards success through relational therapy. While I work with all ages, I specialize in children and teens. I have learned that I must "earn the right to be heard" by them and tend to take that same focus into all other areas of counseling. Clients and I work to help them become a better version of themselves by gaining greater understanding and self-awareness, coping skills, new perspectives and thought processes. I believe that the beauty of being human is that we can always continue to grow and change and I am honored to walk beside my clients on that journey.

Experience:
Rachel has been working in the counseling world for over 6 years seeing a variety of people. She has extensive knowledge in working with teenagers after living and working at a "troubled teen" boarding school in East Texas where she lived, in house, with 20 teenage girls. This experience allows her to connect well with that particular age group and is able to make fast and intentional relationships. Rachel also spent a year doing her practicum counseling at ETBU and was able to work with college age students through a variety of problems (depression, anxiety, career counseling, relationships, eating disorders, and drug abuse). For the past 3 years, Rachel has been counseling in South Texas, working with clients, churches, and schools helping them through the different issues that arise. During that time, Rachel also gave speeches and talks on parenting, sensory dysregulation, and teenage behaviors in an effort to help her community.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Family Studies, Howard Payne University
  • Master of Arts in Counseling with a strong focus in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), East Texas Baptist University
